I specialize in Japanese Style Acupuncture. Japanese Style Acupuncture uses a gentle approach with very fine needles that are often inserted very shallowly. This approach is gentle but very powerful. There are even non-insertive techniques used where the needle may not even break the skin but still has a strong effect.

Diagnosis is done through examination of the pulse and palpation of the abdomen. There are 3 positions found on the pulse of each wrist. There is a superficial depth and a deeper depth to the pulse so there are actually 6 positions on each side. These positions all correspond to the different organs and energy channels where the Acupuncture points are found. By feeling the pulse, I can get a good idea about the state of your core energy or Qi.

Palpation of the abdomen also gives information about the state of your energy (Qi). In Oriental Medicine everything starts in the abdominal cavity or core. By pressing specific areas and points on the abdomen you can learn about the current state of a persons core energy.

I also employ the Balance Method of Dr. Richard Tan. This is a Chinese style of Acupuncture where results can be almost immediate, especially dealing with muscular skeletal issues.

Under the guidelines of the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine, my scope of practice includes the use of Chinese Herbal Medicine. This is particularly effective for internal health problems.
